Have you met the Carrie Bradshaw Society? There are black Carrie Bradshaws like that professional brat Abiola Abrams - that's me! There are notorious Carries like Julia Allison.Then there are male Carrie Bradshaws: straight and gay. Personally, I usually balk at the Carrie thing whenever people bring it up.

Well... maybe I do have one or two things in common with Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and The City fame. I like to think that I am aspiring more to be like Candace Bushnell, the creator of Carrie Bradshaw. Here's what Carrie B. and I have in common - we both write about love, sex and relationships and have a tendency to overshare. We're both haute mess authors / personality journalists who live in NYC. That's where my similarities with Carrie Bradshaw end.
 
I am a Caribbean American chica living in Harlem. I am still delightfully in the middle of learning life and sometimes that's not fabulous. I am not afraid to be unhip or unglam. I will continue to make mistakes and fall on my face and in the meanwhile, I am having so much fun playing with YOU. And I am audacious enough to share whatever tiny bits of knowledge I learn as I learn it.
 
As for how dare a VH1 Tough Love reality chick share thoughts and advice on Love, Sex, and Dating: Trust me, every reality TV guru matchmaker that I've met has a hot disgusting gross mess of a personal life. There are no gurus. The hero is you. We are the ones we've been waiting for.
