It
was my honor for a few years to host The Best Shorts, short
film competition on BET and BET J. It meant much to me to give other indie filmmakers a venue-- and a chance to win money
for their efforts. As an opinionated writer & performer it was only natural that i would direct. I started
making movies out of necessity- to see women like me reflected more. In addition to writing my debut novel dare, i've now directed several mini-movies
& docs, with the award-winning AFRODITE SUPERSTAR & KNIVES IN MY THROAT receiving the most attention. My films have screened and been performed in theaters,
museums, galleries and festivals in London, West Africa, Berlin, South America, the West
Indies and throughout the US. It was also a life-changing experience to lead a film expedition to Nollywood, the Nigerian Hollywood, and to
shoot a short film in Germany at the Berlinale Film Festival.
Movies that i've directed include ophelia's opera, a 15 minute experimental drama about domestic violence, knives in my throat - bipolar disorder film, a doc about a young woman dealing with suicidal tendencies, taboo, renamed my comb, his world, a doc about interracial love, spin-off 3 minute short Black Movies, African Americans, Short Films. i then went to germany to shoot Stranded Berlinale Short Film a 7 minute romantic comedy, and as a grad school project dug into Alicia in Wonderland: erotic dominatrix short film a crazy sadomasochistic fairytale, and then dared to shoot Afrodite Superstar african american erotic film, an experimental feminist erotica film. hopefully, you enjoy my art tales too.

Afrodite Superstar is an experimental erotic film featurette that parodies the hip hop industry and the place
of women in it. The satirical feminist film was chosen as one of the 10 Best NYC Sex Films by The
Village Voice, screened at several universities, and has been written up in academic journals as a women's empowerment
film.
MY COMB, HIS WORLD: STILL TABOO Taboo
is a short film trailer dealing with reactions to interacial relationships in a "post-racial" America.
It features Henry Louis Gates
Jr., Quincy Jones, Essie Mae Washington Williams and others.
Alicia in Wonderland is a short experimental film parody and dark fairytale. The film follows a young woman
through the lens of Alice in Wonderland down the rabbit hole of a New York City dungeon.
The film paralled torture being revealed during the American-Iraqi war. It screened in the T. Wood Gallery of Vermont College of Fine Arts and premiered
at the Chashama Gallery in Manhattan.

Stranded
is a 7 minute narrative comedy created as a part of the Berlin Talent Campus. The short film premiered at the Berlinale Film
Festival, screened on BET, the Museum of TV and Radio, The Museum of the City of New York, and several other film screenings.
Ophelia's Opera is a short experimental film. Each character speaks a different lyrical language - Rap Verse,
Song, American Sign Language, Cantonese - but they all understand each other. The film is about a woman conflicted about dealing
with relationship violence. It screened at the Hollywood Black Film Festival, Pan African Film Festival,
Museum of the City of New York, Museum of TV and Radio, NYU and numerous schools and unviersities.
